Amanda & Ethan’s intimate boho backyard wedding was so special!!
These two actually originally planned to have all of their friends and family over for a large wedding in October. But surprise – COVID! Because of restrictions that went into place in their area, they opted to push their large wedding to a later date in 2021. They instead had an intimate wedding and reception in their backyard with only their immediate family and closest family friends. And let me tell you, it was SO so special!!
Amanda is super artsy and Ethan does construction, so they prepped for WEEKS for their big day. They completely transformed their backyard from, well, a backyard, into the perfect gathering place for their loved ones. Ethan built a bunch of tables and chairs that they placed in a covered seating area, and he built the entire ceremony area too! They both even stayed up until 5am the night before their wedding doing last-minute preparations. But you would NEVER be able to tell – they were too dang excited to marry each other!! Talk about commitment!
Amanda and Ethan did their first look in a gorgeous area of their backyard that was filled with trees and greenery. Once they’d seen each other, the tears came quickly and then they read their vows to each other in private!
They tied the knot under a gorgeous wooden arbor that Ethan built, with warm-toned floral arrangements on both corners of it. Everyone got emotional during the ceremony!
After their ceremony, we had to sneak away for some photos of the newlywedst!! We drove their truck out into a field and danced around as the sun dropped behind us.
All of their friends and family helped set up the tables for dinner afterward!
Here’s a little something Amanda wrote for me about their big day:
“Our original plan was to have a big wedding with all of our friends and family. When the pandemic hit, those plans quickly changed and we ended up having a micro wedding in our backyard. Although it wasn’t our first choice, it ended up being the best day of our lives and we wouldn’t have had it any other way! My favorite aspect of our micro wedding was the intimacy of it. We just got to truly focus on and celebrate our love, and share it with those closest to us.”
It was so perfectly THEM: the whole day was all about who they were with, and they were able to sit down, eat, and drink with those who meant the most to them. THAT is how your wedding day should be, no matter what that looks like for you!!
