Photographing Amanda and Ethan’s Glacier National Park elopement was freaking DREAM!!
From the very beginning of our friendship, these two got me out and adventuring everywhere. It all started with their engagement session, when they took me to Tamanawas Falls in Mount Hood National Forest. We hiked for over an hour in the snow, and eventually ended up at the most stunning waterfall deep in the forest. It was actually where Ethan proposed to Amanda in the first place!
They decided that, after their backyard microwedding, they wanted to say their vows in Glacier National Park. They chose this spot because it’s where they took their very first road trip together! So when they asked me to come along with them on this honeymoon trip, I couldn’t say no!
Here’s how Amanda told this story:
“My husband and I fell in love in Glacier National Park during our first trip there. Glacier is absolutely breathtaking, and hiking through it in a wedding dress and boots in the snow was one of the best (and hardest) things I’ve done! Going back to say our vows and taking wedding photos there was a once in a lifetime experience that we’ll never forget!”
My videographer partner, Alesia, and I road tripped up to Montana together. When we got there, it was legit zero degrees outside! During our first day there, we explored and scouted the perfect spots for Amanda & Ethan to read their vows.
When the time came, we met Amanda & Ethan at their condo. They got ready to hike in their wedding clothes, and then we set out toward Avalanche Lake. After an hour-long hike through the forest in the snow, we came out to the most gorgeous frozen lake with NOBODY there.
We set all our bags down and walked to the edge of the freezing lake. Amanda & Ethan pulled out their vow books, and read them to each other in the silence of the massive lake. It was one of the most special things I’ve ever witnessed!
Then, since they only had dinner at their microwedding reception, we had them do their first dance by that lake. It felt like it was just the two of them, suspended in time.
Afterward, Amanda & Ethan popped champagne, danced around the lake, and watched the sun pop out from behind the clouds. We sat down and Ethan pulled out the White Claws and sandwiches that he’d packed with them.! We all sat together and ate lunch before hiking back into the forest.
